WPFD 2/4 and WPFD 3/6 Models
The WPFD® thawing line was developed through a partnership with leading Italian clinics, during which a diverse experience was taken into account from the very beginning of the design: from practical use in clinical and medical practice to technical and scientific research, combining them with advanced technologies.
The technology was patented by KW (Patent No. 0001404653 dated 29.11.2013). WPFD 2/4 and WPFD 3/6 are fully innovative devices, from the materials they are made of to their operating principles.
Using this thawer, you can trace every stage of the process: by scanning the barcode or other identification tags, the device can identify the operator, the type of container, and then trace the donor through the information on the container.
The electronic control unit is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen.
All information about the thawing process is transmitted to the local network (via Ethernet port and WiFi) or to a flash drive (via 2 USB ports) and SD card.
The minimum thawing time for a 260 ml plasma container is 15 minutes, and for a 600 ml plasma container — 25 minutes.
Unlike other devices available on the market that only measure the water temperature, the KW thawer has several sensors in each compartment and continuously monitors the temperature of each container, ensuring:
• The ability to fully trace the entire thawing process.
• Validation of the entire thawing procedure.
• Excellent homogeneity of thawed plasma thanks to the hydro-massage pump, thus containers undergo a hydro-massage procedure so that after thawing, the plasma is homogenized and reaches the best quality.
• Asynchronous thawing of multiple batches of fresh-frozen plasma or multiple batches of stem cells; the thawer is equipped with various independent heating elements, allowing the heating process to be activated at different times and in an independent mode.
• Continuous operation, except in exceptional situations. If any problems arise in the thawing container or the container is damaged, its contents will, in any case, remain inside the container, not entering the heating liquid.
• The container can be easily removed, washed under running water, and then reinstalled without interrupting the heating process of other containers.
The WPFD® thawer is a true challenge to widely recognized standards in terms of size, design, and data informativeness.
The KW plasma and stem cell thawing system represents a new perspective on user interface and the operation of medical equipment, allowing visual control to be combined with independent management of plasma thawing units.
New Features Compared to Competitors
• Plasma containers do not come into direct contact with the thermostatic bath, so they remain completely dry and protected from contamination.
• The container material remains undamaged even after the re-insertion of a frozen container that may have sharp edges.
• Temperature sensors inside each compartment allow for recording the temperature of each container during heating and displaying it in graph form.
• Activation of up to three independent heating procedures.
• Alarm sound in case of damage to the plasma container.
• The temperature in the thermostatic bath can be higher than the final temperature required for the plasma container: as soon as the sensors in contact with the container show that the heating degree has reached the set temperature, the control system will immediately interrupt the tray emptying process. Thus, the procedure time can be reduced.
• There is the possibility to activate the container massage function and plasma homogenization by quickly filling and emptying the working tray of the individual thawing container.
• Programming the end of the procedure upon reaching a certain temperature or time.
The thawing compartments are easily removable, making them convenient to wash.

• Simultaneous thawing of up to 9 plasma containers in emergency situations: duration up to 35 minutes!
